At Sport Imperial, we are proud of our many achievements in the sporting arena, including our world class training venues, the continuous innovations and improvements to our facilities, the development of elite athletes and sports teams and the ongoing promotion of participation and health and wellbeing within the imperial community and beyond. Some of our most notable achievements to date are:

Winner of The Prince Albert Challenge Cup at the Henley Rowing Regatta 2013

A crew of 5 talented Imperial athletes battled against some of the best university rowing crews in the country and won the Prince Albert Challenge Cup at the 164th Regatta. The coxed four competed against Oxford in the final and won by three lengths. It is the first time that Imperial's Boat Club has won the Cup since 2006. The victory is particularly symbolic because the event’s origins are closely associated with Imperial.

Derrick Rose Adidas Europe Tour

Ethos played host to the NBA Chicago Bulls’ star, Derrick Rose. He was touring Europe with Adidas to help take basketball to fans and promote his new shoe and clothing line, while training at Ethos as part of his rehabilitation plan.

National No. 1 University in Rowing in the BUCS ranking 2013

The Imperial College Boat Club finished the BUCS Regatta in May 2013 with 10 gold medals, making Imperial College London the No. 1 University in Rowing nationally in the BUCS ranking 2013.

Hosting Olympic Teams during the London 2012 Games

Imperial College London played host to 14 Olympics teams at our South Kensington campus in 2012, providing accommodation and access to sports facilities and sports injury treatments in Ethos. We shared victorious moments with many of the athletes who used Ethos for their training, including Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, the Men’s Triathlon Gold and Bronze medal winners; Nicola Spirig, the Women’s Triathlon Gold Medallist; Anthony Joshua, the Men’s Super-Heavyweight Boxing Gold medallist; and The Japanese Men’s Team Foil, the Team Silver Medal winners.

Olympic gold medallist Alumni

Three of our Imperial College Boat Club rowers went on to be a part of the British Men’s Olympic Rowing Team for their gold medal-winning performance at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. They were the first Men’s 8 team to win gold since 1912.

2011 BUCS Fencing Champions

Imperial dominated the fencing fixtures at the 2011 BUCS Championships, victorious in both the Men’s and Women’s Fencing finals and claiming a stake for themselves at the top of British university fencing.

World class training venue

Ethos Sports Centre has been a recognised training venue for worldwide competitors during the Dextro Energy Triathlon as part of the ITU World Championship Series.

The England Saxons Rugby A team has spent time training with our own Imperial ‘Lucky 8’ at Harlington Sports Ground before their 6 Nations game with Italy. The Rugby 6 Nations team regularly uses Harlington as a training ground, using the 3G pitch, as well as the indoor fitness facilities.

Three-time New York Marathon winner Paula Radcliffe has visited Imperial for the Nike Select Women’s event, as part of the selection process for developing athletes.  

King of Shaves advertising Campaign Launch

England and Chelsea captain John Terry visited Harlington Sports ground for the media event to launch the new King of Shaves Advertising Campaign.

FA Partner University

Imperial College London has become a Football Association Partner University, one of only 10 universities in the country.
