Ethos wins FLAME 2011 Award
July 21, 2011
Ethos, Imperial's flagship sports centre on Prince's Gardens, South Kensington, powered through to win the Educational Club of the Year Award at the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) FLAME 2011 Awards. This is the second time that Ethos has made the final three in this category, narrowly losing last year's award to Abbs Cross Health and Fitness Centre in Hornchurch. Abbs Cross and the Featherstone Sports Centre, Southall were part of the final three again this year.
The FLAME awards, the most prestigious in the health and fitness industry, have continued to raise their profile year after year. The awards bring all corners of the industry together to celebrate excellence and best practice and honour the people who make a profound contribution to their communities and organisation.
Finalists for the Educational Club of the Year award were put through a vigorous three stage assessment process, which began formally in March. The Ethos team however, led by Centre Manager Kelly McKenzie, had begun preparing long before this. With the benefit and hindsight of last year's entry and experience, the team who were then led by Iain Reid, were able to consolidate two-year's worth of effort to gain this prestigious win.
Members of Sport Imperial's management team together with Jane Neary, Director of Commercial Services, attended the FLAME 2011 Awards evening at the Telford International Centre on Wednesday 13 July 2011 and were extremely proud to receive their award. Neil Mosley, Head of Sport Imperial and Assistant Director of Commercial Services, said:
"We are absolutely delighted with the FLAME award. This is a huge achievement for the team and has been a long time coming for them. They have worked extremely hard to keep standards and practices up to the kind of levels recognised and celebrated by such a prestigious health and fitness industry body. I am very proud of their efforts and hope the rest of the College community joins me in congratulating them for this outstanding achievement."
