Ethos wins FLAME 2012 Award
July 10, 2012
Sport Imperial win again as Ethos takes the title of Educational Club of the Year at the FIA FLAME Awards on 27 June 2012.
Ethos, Imperial's flagship sports centre on Prince's Gardens, South Kensington, powered through again this year to win the Educational Club of the Year Award at the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) FLAME Awards 2012. This is the second time that Ethos has won this award and the third time that they have reached the final three. Ethos was up against Hertfordshire Sports Village and The Edge, University of Leeds Fitness, Sport and Wellbeing complex.
The FLAME awards, the most prestigious in the health and fitness industry, have continued to raise their profile year after year. The awards bring all corners of the industry together to celebrate excellence and best practice and honour the people who make a profound contribution to their communities and organisation.
Finalists for the Educational Club of the Year award were out through a vigorous three-stage assessment process, which began formally in March. The Ethos team, however, led by Sports Centre Manager Kelly McKenzie, started their preparations long before this using the knowledge gained from their 2011 win to maintain the high standards recognised by the FIA. The team worked hard to consolidate their experience and effort to gain this prestigious win for the second year running.
Members of Sport Imperial's management team together with Neil Mosley, Head of Sport Imperial and Assistant Director of Commercial Services, attended the FLAME awards evening at the Magna Centre and Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Wednesday 27 June and were extremely proud to receive their award.
Neil Mosley said "We are absolutely delighted to receive the FLAME award for the second year running. Since winning in 2011 the team have worked extremely hard to keep Ethos up to the standard celebrated by the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) and to win again at the industry's most prestigious awards ceremony is a really outstanding achievement."
Other awards presented on the evening include Club of the Year (Under 1000 members, 1000-3000 members and over 3000 members), Centre of the Year, Schools and Colleges Educational Club of the Year, Corporate Club of the Year, Future of FLAME award, Spark of Innovation operator, Spark of Innovator supplier, Leisure Centre Operator of the Year and Health Club Operator of the Year.
