Summer Rowing Courses
The Boathouse in Putney is home to Sport Imperial’s popular summer rowing courses, which take place during July and August each year.
The course has been developed for junior rowers aged 14 – 18 and is designed to help participants improve their rowing ability as well as their overall health and fitness over five days. Available as residential or non-residential, the summer rowing course runs from Monday to Friday at Sport Imperial’s High Performance Rowing Centre on the Putney Embankment.
What to Expect
The 2018 rowing course has been tailored to difference abilities and ages, offering specific courses for students aged 14 – 16 (J16) and 16 – 18 (J18).
The J16 camp focuses on sculling. The programme will progress from octuples and quads to doubles and singles.
The J18 camp aims to prepare athletes for competing in top boats at prestigious regattas in the summer. Participants on this course are expected to have significant experience in a single scull.
All participants will take part in an intensive week long programme which will include two morning sessions on the water followed by a programme of land-based afternoon sessions designed to improve the mental and physical aspects of your rowing including; ergo technique, video analysis, strength and conditioning training, nutrition seminars, motivational talks.
